basketballscotland recognises the importance of an active volunteer membership in sustaining and growing the sport of basketball. Therefore we would like to invite nominations for the annual National Volunteer Recognition Awards in the following categories.

School Age Volunteer of the Year Award (17 years old and under as of 1st June)

Young Volunteer of the Year Award (18-24 years old as of 1st June)

Volunteer of the Year Award

The Ronnie Mather Contribution to Coaching Award
-
The Douglas Bader Contribution to Officiating Award
-
Chairman's Award
Nomination Criteria
-
All nominees' primary residence must be in Scotland
-
Contribution to volunteering, coaching and officiating must have been consistent and continuous within the last year
-
Nominees may have contributed at any level, from grassroots to elite
Nomination Process
To make a nomination, please complete the nomination form in legible print and return it to Janie McBrierty, basketballscotland, Caledonia House, South Gyle, Edinburgh, EH12 9DQ or alternatively complete the online nomination form and return to enquiries@basketball-scotland.com .
The submission deadline for all nominations is Friday 7th May 2010.
An independent, appointed judging panel will review all nominations and announce a shortlist of three award nominees on the Wednesday after the submission deadline. On the same day, recipients of the Service Awards will be announced.
Awards Ceremony
Short-listed nominees and Service Award recipients will be invited to attend an Awards Ceremony.
Awards
School Age Volunteer, Young Volunteer, and Volunteer of the Year Award
This Award will recognise and celebrate the significant achievements and contributions of basketballscotland's volunteers at all ages. The winners will have demonstrated leadership, creativity, co-operation, dedication and will have devoted their time and effort to the development of basketball.
The Ronnie Mather contribution to coaching award
This Award will recognise and reward a person who has made an outstanding contribution in the area of coaching basketball within Scotland.
The Douglas Bader Contribution to Officiating Award
This Award will recognise and reward a person who has made an outstanding contribution in the area of officiating basketball within Scotland.
Chairman's Award
This is an open award that will recognise the significant contribution to basketball, in whatever capacity, of an individual, club, school, development group, regional association or any other volunteer group.
Service Awards
An unlimited number of Service Award badges available to anyone who has made valuable contributions to basketball regularly for the past 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years.
